(February 6, 2011) - Over 100 racers from Manitoba, Saskatchewan and North Dakota converged on the Asessippi Ski Area this weekend for Race 1 and 2 of the Manitoba Cup Alpine Race Series. A number of Summit athletes made their way to the podium with excellent performances.
Tori was the fastest women down the hill in the Slalom event and captured the Gold Overall Medal. Meghan Brown also finished in the Top 10. Congratulations ladies!
The men also put in an excellent effort across the board. There were some very nice runs, but none of them were enough to make it to the podium for the Slalom event. Timotej Oravec found out that in Alpine Skiing, pushing the envelope sometimes comes with a price!
Neill Telles-Landon took to the hill as a one of the forerunners for the day. Forerunners help establish that the timing is all operational. In Neill's case it was also to show the older athletes how its done! Watch out big sister! Neill is here!
The Giant Slalom event produced more hardware for the Summit Ski Club! Sara and Tori once again took medals in there respective age categories. Top 10 for overall included Samantha French and Anna Blankstein, with Tori once again taking the Gold! Outstanding work ladies!
The men were in fine form for the GS event. Maclean Hatherly, Evan Madill and Ethan Grycko took home medals in their respective events. Timotej Oravec showed everyone how its done, winning Gold Overall for the men. Maclean Hatherly also had a Top 10 finish!
Good weather and great racing. It was another perfect Manitoba weekend!
