Weather in Bottineau Was Cold...
Summit Racers Were Hot!

Glynnis Eyford Burns Up the Course at Bottineau N.D.

(February 26, 2011) - It was a cold weekend in Bottineau, N.D., but races 3 and 4 of the Manitoba Cup race series went on. On Saturday morning, race officials decided that for the safety of the athletes, all racers would be required to wear jackets during the morning run. The Summit contingent to the race was small (due to the alignment with the Canada Winter Games and other events), but our racers were winning big!

Andrew Cordingley makes a Gold Medal Run in Bottineau N.D.

During Race #3, held Saturday, Andrew Cordingley took 1st Place for J1 Male and Maclean Hatherly came in 2nd. Andrew and Maclean also won the Gold and Silver medals for Overall Male as well. Glynnis Eyford took home a Silver for Overall Female. That was Glynnis' first day on skiis since March 2010! Not bad for first day out!

Maclean Hatherly Rips Through the Course

Sunday was a sunnier day but the windchill was still a challenge. The Summit athletes didn't let that stop them from loading up on medals again in Race #4! This time Andrew and Maclean took home Silver and Bronze in J1 Male and Overall Male. Abby Eyford (who was also making her season debut) made sure everyone knew she was back by taking home the Gold for 1st place in J1 Female and Bronze for Overall Female. Glynnis was back on the podium for a 2nd place Silver medal in the Overall Female category.

As usual, the hospitality of the Bottineau Ski Club, the Bottineau Winter Park and all of the local volunteers and skiers made this another memorable event!
